This course provides students with an overview of the principles, ethics and practices of professional fundraising and a systemic examination of the thinking and preparation that is required before an organization can engage in successful fundraising. Students examine the evolution of fundraising in North America, the role the voluntary sector plays in today's society and the changing nature of the position of the fundraising professional. Students also analyze the needs of an organization and applyfundraising approaches that best suit the organizational needs.
[B] British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT): NPMA 1610 (P) - Managing People in Nonprofit Organizations 1
This course will introduce you to the basic principles of human resource (HR) management as they apply to the nonprofit sector. You will have the opportunity to explore the role of an executive director in relation to human resource management through case studies and discussions.
[C] Concordia University: MARK 510 Marketing for Not-for-Profit Organizations
This course is an introduction to the principles of marketing in an institutional setting. The course views the subject matter from both a societal and managerial standpoint. It includes discussion of the role and importance of marketing in society, some ethical considerations as well as the tools and skills available for operational efficiency.
- enlist up to three independent volunteers to participate in the research;
- identify and agree upon the list of post-secondary institutions and professional associations to be reviewed;
- list all the program and course offerings provided by each institution and association;
- note the type of course (i.e. full or part-time, continuing education, distance education)
- read through all the course credits, then identify which category it should go into (see table below);
- once the data is in the table, calculate what percentage of courses fall into one of the three categories;
- when the percentages have been established, each researcher will provide their discussion thoughts based on the hypothesis;
- once the discussion has been finalized, disseminate the findings within the community at large
