Commitment to our Staff & Volunteers

Picture
Framework  is fortunate to engage some of the brightest and hardworking staff and volunteers from across North America. We also recognize that we have to walk-the-talk when it comes to providing our staff with the tools to enable skilled volunteerism with the organization.

Easy to do in theory, hard to manage in practice. Framework has and will continue to invest heavily in agreed-upon best practices that Imagine Canada (via their Standards Program), Vantage Point (via their People Lens strategy), Volunteer Canada (via their Code for Volunteer Involvement) and the HR Council for the Voluntary Sector (via their workforce strategy) have outlined in their respective work.

The Standards Initiative has a total of 26 best-practices related to Staff Management and 11 related to Volunteer Involvement. We want to go beyond compliant on all these standards. We also want to work as closely with volunteers from other nonprofits (such as United Way of Calgary & Area) to ensure the Timeraiser program is working.

Our Commitment to Staff:
  • Provide competitive compensation
  • Give access to professional development & training opportunities
  • Help your career dreams come true

Our Staff Commitment to Volunteers:
  • Be clear about roles & responsibilities
  • Provide the training and tools to participate in a meaningful way
  • Establish customized volunteer road-maps for volunteers who want to deepen their connection with Framework

Our Expectations of Volunteers:
  • Take ownership of what you've committed to
  • Use the tools we've provided to communicate & plan effectively
  • Engage your network to advance our work

Volunteer Engagement Strategy

Strategy
  • Move away from traditional committee structures which are hard to schedule and prepare for/manage
  • Establish a more fluid approach to developing personalized volunteer plans for individuals who want to help out across a range of activities such as corporate outreach, HR, PR/communications, ticket selling etc
  • Develop an world-class training & engagement program

Approach
  • Make use of Sharesies to provide more volunteers the opportunity to comment/participate in a wider range of governance & program development
  • Use Web 2.0 technologies to collaborate & share mission critical information online and in real time
  • Gather volunteers virtually (via conference calls) and through in-person sessions
